Memorial Day Weekend Wrap Up Blog Update

Not the actual dog but it was about this size and bit me!
Oh my, have i really not updated since Friday, shame on me!  But seriously, we have been very busy....Saturday Sir installed my new air conditioner, yay!  We cleaned ourselves up and went to Francis's party, we've known Francis  for about 15 years, #1 met him his freshman year of high school, it was an all boys school and he made some really awesome friends there.  We've seen Francis through two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, scary stuff, but fortunately he's back safe and sound.  The party was pleasant but...and here comes the rant....i've been attacked by dogs 3 times in my life, i'm not comfortable around big dogs AT ALL.  it really irks me when i go to someone's house, especially someone who know's my history with dogs (for Goddess sake, the last dog was a freaking huge Mastiff!) and they dismiss it like it is nothing, and of course because of my fear dogs they are very attracted to me...we didn't stay long mainly because of the dogs...end of rant!

Got up on Sunday, logged on to Fet and had an impromptu swim/play party invite from one of the most fun people in our group, SCORE!!!  i  made a salad and took off to the playspace for our private group BBQ and play party.  Wonderful people, relaxed atmosphere, enough shade that i didn't burn.  After a couple of hours there i helped sherry clean up and then we left for thea's and the pool party.  Another very awesome group of people, thea throws the most amazing parties, i think i wrote about her Christmas party, she has the perfect house for parties, and a pool and awesome decking all around for relaxing!  Best part...no swimming suits necessary, lol.  We were there until about 10:30 or 11:00 came home and just collapsed!

This morning #2.5 came over to wash their linens, her son, my only grandson, is going to be in town for two weeks starting next Saturday, we are all so excited, we made list after list of things we could do while he is here.  Talked her and #2 into coming over for BBQ this afternoon, they really are a blast to be around.

This is where i talk a little bit about Memorial Day...#2 was in the Army for 5 years, 2 years of training in OK, and AZ, then stationed in Alaska before being deployed to Iraq for a year.  He said today that this was the worst Memorial Day ever because we were keeping him from Diablo 3, my kids are all gamers and they have been glued to their comps, i told him no, the worst Memorial Day was the year he was in Iraq and i didn't know if he was safe or not, he got a sad smile on his face and apologized for worrying me....really????  When he was deployed, because of his job, (he was a Human Intelligence Collector) his whereabouts were always secret, if you heard about soldiers being killed in such and such area you had no idea if that was anywhere near where he was, it was absolutely miserable.  We were so fortunate, he came back safe and sound, i never, never, take that for granted.  So every Memorial Day i thank the Goddess that he is with us.  We fed them and sent them on their way.

i've already been told we will be playing tonight so i'm headed off to shower and get ready.

Yes, that's #2 with some of his friends in Iraq

So, to anyone out there with family or friends in the military....hug them, thank them for what they do, because i know it isn't easy, they see far more than anyone should see and we all owe them a huge debt of gratitude, whether we agree with the war or not, it's there and someone has to fight it.
